How Community Energy Groups work
Order opportunity
Once a month, you’ll have the chance to order heating oil through the club
Ordering through a coordinator
If you have a local coordinator, they’ll get in touch to help arrange your order
No coordinator? No problem
If you don’t have a coordinator, we’ll email you a link to submit your order online
Getting the best price
After we receive your order, we get the best price available that day from our supplier
Confirmation
We’ll let you (or your coordinator) know the price and your delivery day
Payment
You pay the supplier directly after your oil has been delivered
Group membership
Group membership is £27 a year, which goes towards our admin costs.
Community energy groups are also open to those that manage and operate community buildings at a cost of £36 per year.
Once you become a member, you get the opportunity to order oil once a month.
By joining a community energy group, you will benefit from the group’s combined buying power to get a better price. Members can also get support ordering from local volunteer coordinators – get in touch with us to find out if there is a coordinator in your area.

The membership fee contributes to the running costs of the scheme including administration, advertising and marketing materials. This way we can ensure that all people living in Shropshire have access to a fuel buying scheme.
Savings will vary depending on how much people order and who their local supplier is. We find that most people achieve savings of around 3 to 4 p per litre.
Yes, anyone who is on heating oil can use the scheme, including local businesses and community buildings.
No, we can accommodate people living on our borders and into Wales. Please contact us for more information.
You can still join the scheme but may have to incur a small extra charge (around 1ppl) for use of a smaller tanker.
The minimum order is 500 litres for oil members. All orders will benefit from the same savings as we will be ordering in bulk.
Yes, if you require an additive please add this to your order.
The best way to do this is to slightly overestimate the amount you will need. You will only be charged for the amount delivered.
Deliveries are usually completed within 10 working days of Community Resource placing the order with the supplier.
If your order becomes urgent please let us know and we will do our best to get a delivery to you ASAP but in some cases this may mean placing the order outside of the bulk order for an additional charge.
For oil this will vary depending on the supplier. They will usually either leave an invoice on delivery or request a call before delivery to secure payment with card.

We are looking for local volunteers to act as coordinators for our Community Energy Oil Buying Group in their local area. This role is vital in helping residents, particularly those who may need a little extra support, to place their heating oil orders.
