Shropshire Village Halls Quiz League

Join the Shropshire Village Halls Quiz League

Get your team together and join a quiz league that brings people together and supports local village halls.

From October to March, teams across Shropshire compete in friendly monthly quiz nights, with a Grand Final in April. It’s fun, sociable, and a great way to support your community.

Why join?

  • enjoy regular quiz nights with teams from across Shropshire
  • bring people together in your village or local area
  • support your village hall through a fun community activity
  • help raise extra income through refreshments and raffles

How it works

Teams of up to four take part in friendly quiz matches once a month on Friday evenings, with the league running from October to March. At the end of the season, teams come together for a Finals evening in April, where trophies are presented to the winners.

Teams are organised into regional groups to keep travel practical, and if there is enough local interest, more than one team can enter from the same area. Each team needs a local coordinator to organise players and act as the main point of contact.

Monthly updates, league tables and venue details are shared by email, and team members can change from month to month. Players do not need to be on the Village Hall Committee, and people from neighbouring parishes are very welcome to join.

Costs and fundraising

  • annual entry fee: £10 for affiliated members of Shropshire Community Resource
  • annual entry fee: £15 for non-affiliated halls
  • payment can be made by cheque or BACS when you submit your entry form
  • quiz night attendees pay £2.50 to the host hall for refreshments
  • many halls also run a raffle to raise extra funds
  • it’s a simple way to support your hall while enjoying a great night out
