Volunteers in the Square event brings communities together

We were pleased to bring together organisations from across the county for the Volunteers in the Square event. Held as part of Volunteers Week, the event celebrated the vital contribution that volunteers make to communities across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.

The event was free to attend and welcomed members of the public throughout the day, with a wide range of people engaging with local charities, learning more about volunteering opportunities and exploring ways to get involved in their communities. Visitors also had the opportunity to speak directly with organisations, ask questions and discover roles that matched their interests and availability, creating a welcoming and inclusive space for people of all ages to connect with local services and community groups.

Alongside the information stands, there were fun activities to enjoy. A reaction time challenge tested visitors’ reflexes and proved a popular attraction, while the photobooth offered a chance to capture the day in a memorable way. Crafting activities and family friendly entertainment ensured there was something for everyone, helping to create a lively and engaging atmosphere throughout the event.

It was fantastic to see so many organisations and residents coming together to celebrate Volunteers Week. Events like this not only recognise the important role volunteers play but also inspire more people to get involved and make a difference within their local communities.

We would like to thank all the organisations that took part, as well as everyone who attended and helped make the day such a success. We look forward to continuing to work together to support volunteering and strengthen our communities.
